Job Description:
As a Database/Programmer Developer, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of enterprise web applications and database systems. The candidate must possess a deep understanding of database management systems (DBMS), programming techniques, and system integration, with the ability to interface with vendor software and ensure compliance with DoD/Army standards. The role requires strong technical expertise, independence, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience with databases (Oracle/SQL), programming languages, and website/application development
- Strong knowledge of various operating systems including Windows, Unix, and Linux
- Hands-on experience with .NET technologies (ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#), HTML, JavaScript, and related frameworks
- Familiarity with IIS, Windows Servers, and Visual Studio development environments
- Proficient in authentication, encryption, and application security testing (e.g., Fortify or similar tools)
- Experience with database monitoring/management tools (e.g., Toad)
- Skilled in flowcharting, documentation, and system design principles
- Knowledge of DOD, DA, and Army organizational regulations, technical bulletins, and web development standards
Key Responsibilities:
Although the exact duties may vary, the core responsibilities of this position include:
- Perform user requirements analysis, application design, testing, and implementation of Microsoft-based web applications
- Develop and support custom web applications based on customer requirements
- Design, develop, and maintain applications using Oracle/SQL Server, ASP.NET, VB, VB.NET, C#, PL/SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and related tools
- Coordinate application integration, including reverse proxy server architecture, through DoD CONUS environments
- Support updates, upgrades, and patches, including IAVA patch updates and PKI certificates
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to programmers on best practices and development techniques
- Monitor and optimize database and application performance using tools such as Toad, Microsoft Reporting Services, and auditing tools (Log Explorer, Omni Audit, etc.)
- Develop programming code for serial and Ethernet interfaces to connect with other appliances/systems
- Work closely with IT and vendor technical personnel to resolve outages, troubleshoot issues, and maintain system availability
- Ensure applications and systems comply with DoD security and web development standards
