Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Scrum Master / Agile Coach to support a large-scale program within the Department of Defense (DoD) or Federal Civilian customer base. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience guiding agile teams, fostering continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to Agile and Scrum principles across multiple teams and programs.
As the Lead Scrum Master, you will serve as both a coach and facilitator—helping teams mature in their agile practices, removing impediments to progress, and promoting alignment with enterprise-level objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide Agile teams, ensuring adherence to Scrum framework values, principles, and practices.
- Lead Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Serve as a coach and mentor to Scrum Masters and Agile teams to enhance performance and delivery.
- Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure clear product vision, backlog prioritization, and continuous value delivery.
- Identify and remove team impediments that hinder progress or productivity.
- Facilitate decision-making, conflict resolution, and alignment among cross-functional teams.
- Monitor Agile metrics and performance indicators to assess team health and drive improvements.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement across teams and the broader organization.
- Support Agile transformation and scaling initiatives within the organization (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, or other frameworks).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent experience).
- Active Secret Clearance (required).
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP) certification required.
- 10+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or equivalent role supporting large, complex programs within the DoD or Federal Civilian sector.
- Proven experience mentoring multiple teams and leading Agile transformations.
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks, scaling methodologies, and software development lifecycle processes.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Kanban, or other Agile methodologies.
- Additional certifications such as SAFe SPC, PMP-ACP, or CSPO.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or Rally.
