Position Overview:
This role is responsible for the maintenance and administration of the SAP Business Objects / Business Intelligence platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and building BI solutions, including reports, universes, and dashboards, to meet the business intelligence needs of this application.
We are seeking a skilled SAP Business Objects (BO) professional to join our IT team. This role is responsible for the development, maintenance, and administration of our SAP BusinessObjects BI platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and building BI solutions, including reports, universes, and dashboards, to meet business intelligence needs.
Key Responsibilities
Development and Reporting:
- Design and develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations using SAP BO tools such as Web Intelligence (WebI), Crystal Reports, and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
- Create and maintain universes (using UDT/IDT) to define and manage data sources for reporting.
- Work with business stakeholders and analysts to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into technical BI solutions.
Administration and Platform Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain the SAP BusinessObjects BI environment, ensuring system stability, performance, and security.
- Manage user access, security settings, and group permissions within the Central Management Console (CMC).
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis for any platform or report-related problems.
Maintenance and Support:
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing BI reports and platform infrastructure.
- Schedule and monitor data refreshes and reporting jobs to ensure timely and accurate information delivery.
- Apply patches and upgrades to the BI platform as needed to stay current and secure.
Testing and Deployment:
- Conduct unit, integration, and user acceptance testing to ensure the quality and accuracy of BI solutions.
- Manage the promotion of BI content (reports, universes) from development to production environments.
Required Qualifications
Experience: [3–5]+ years of experience with the SAP BusinessObjects BI suite.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Certification: SAP Certified Application Associate for BusinessObjects.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with SAP BO tools, including Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, and the Information Design Tool (IDT).
- Strong SQL skills for data querying and optimization across various database platforms (e.g., SAP HANA, Oracle, SQL Server).
- Experience with data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to effectively collaborate with business and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Administration: Experience with BOE administration, including server management and security configuration.
Integration: Familiarity with integrating SAP BO with other SAP modules (e.g., SAP BW, SAP ERP) or cloud database environments.
